2 out of 5 stars Overheats too quickly (on carpet)   July 30, 2010

This is a decent, inexpensive vaccuum. However, I don't believe it can be used to clean carpets. We have a tiny living room and it overheats WAY too quickly when we flick the power nozzle on. We get maybe half of the living room vacuumed before it shuts down needing to be off for about 30 minutes.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this! Motor breaks down in less than a year   July 29, 2010
Bama Fan (Virginia Beach, VA)
While looking for a light weight practical, efficient, vacuum cleaner I saw all the rave reviews on this one and bought one. It seemed great once I used it a few times so I bought another for the upstairs. Well, a few months later while vacuuming for about five minutes it stopped working no more suction and the motor sounded strange. It worked the next day but only for a bit then nothing. The second went the same way as the first blowing out by overheating itself or I don't know what. I have ceramic floors, always cleaned filters before using, and never had to vacuum more than ten minutes so really there was no reason for this overheating or motor blowing out unless it's just plain cheap and bad engineering. So, my advice is get something that may be more costly but at least will last in the end. I blew a hundred dollars in the end and am now looking for something better!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Little Stick Vacume...Don't Hesitate   July 28, 2010
Judy Knee (Sullivan County, NY)
This is a great little Stick Vacume. Powerful enough to pick up Sand plus all the little lint stuff that gets onto carpets. So easy to switch between floors and carpets. You will not be disappointed. I originally had a Swiffer electric broom, but that does NOT do the small carpet runners at the door or in the living room and when you need convenience to do both, the Flair Stick Broom does the job. Do not hesitate to get this one. I searched for a good one and glad I picked this one.

5 out of 5 stars I've had this for over a year, and it's worked well.   July 26, 2010

I have a small two bedroom condo with wood floors and area rugs. I tend to use the carpet setting throughout, because it has more suction than the bare floor setting. It's especially handy in the kitchen where little crumbs tend to get on the floor, but I use it for my whole place about once a week. I empty the canister after each use.

5 out of 5 stars Fast and Efficient   July 23, 2010
Book Maven (Chicago)
After suffering for many years with a stick vac that made noise but did little else, the Hoover Flair is a joy. It handles small jobs (entrance rugs, showers covered in sand from the beach) with ease. I really like how easy it is to switch from floor to carpet too. Yes, it does throw off a lot of heat. And yes, it would be nice to have a longer cord, but these are minor quibbles. The bottom line is that the machine does what it's supposed to and quickly.
