5 out of 5 stars outstanding vacuum   September 4, 2010
Helen D. Setterfield (Oregon, USA)
Here's what the other reviewers have not mentioned that I have seen: it's quiet! You can hear the phone; you can even talk over it without shouting. With that incredible suction, this little thing is quiet. The maneuverability is incredible, variable suction a real plus, and yes, it will do rugs as well as a rug beater attachment. If this only lasts five years, and I have no idea about that, that means about $10 a year, or less than $1 a month for a great little machine and we'd get another one immediately.

We have animals here. Our three dogs have access to the house through a dog door and a barn with horses and goats and chickens out back guarantees lots of dust and dirt. Not on the floors. Not any more. We had a big Sears cannister and this does better, is lighter, and much easier to work with.

The cord is not nearly as short as I thought it would be considering some of the other reviews. It's just fine and changing plugs when I get into a different room is not a problem.

I highly recommend it.

Edit: we just tried to find replacement bags. Yes, you can get them here on Amazon, for over $4 APIECE! Bizarre and ridiculous. Great vacuum, ripoff on the bags.....the bags are small, which is to be expected for this small a vacuum, but come on, folks....that kind of price EACH for a paper bag with cardboard attached????

5 out of 5 stars Beats my $600 vacuum!   August 31, 2010

A couple years ago when our vaccum called it quits, I decided that only the best would do for my family. I searched all the product reviews on many sites and ended up selecting a vaccum that Consumer Reports raved about...for $600. All in all, it was a great vaccum - it moved from floors to carpet with ease, came with multiple attachments, and sucked as all good vaccums should do. The downside, it is one heavy vaccum. Probably weighs a good 25 lbs, but feels like 50. With a messy 5 year old, 2 year old, two LARGE dogs, and a cat, I needed something I didn't dread to take out of the closet. So began my search...I looked at lightweight stick vacs, but knew we wouldn't keep the stick vacs charged or they wouldn't work long enough for me to clean everything I needed to clean. I ended up purchasing the Eureka Ready Force Vacuum and couldn't be happier. It is incredibly lightweight. I can easily carry it around in my hand - must weigh a little over 10 lbs. I use it primarily in my kitchen and it does the job. Sucks up crumbs, dirt, hair, fairly large pieces of food, etc. I don't belive it would suck up a pile of nails or a have enough suction to hold a bowling ball, but those are the not the items I normally try to vacuum up. I normally don't have to go over something twice. It gets it the first time. It does fine for day to day vacuuming and is a great price. Only negatives would be is that the wand is made of plastic and not any metal, so it feels too flimsy, but that is what helps make it so lightweight, but I don't see it breaking anytime soon and that the cord seems short to me and end up yanking it out of the socket by accident quite a bit. Other than that, great vacuum and I'd recommend it if you're looking for something light that is also light on the wallet and sucks in a good way!

Love this vacuum. It is lightweight, but has plenty of suction. Easy to get under beds, take down cobwebs. This is not meant for carpeting, other than small throw rugs. Very pleased with this purchase. If you have hardwood floors and vinyl/ceramic, it is perfect. I like that it has bags, do not like emptying bagless; bags are available at Lowe's.

3 out of 5 stars pros and cons   August 24, 2010

I needed a vac in a hurry after my 10-year-old Kenmore died, and since I have hardwood floors and an upright sufficient for my area rugs I needed another canister for floors, upholstery, lampshades and the like, but didn't need one with a power nozzle. With no time for online orders I shopped around the city and ended up with this little red Eureka. After a month of use, here are my pros: excellent suction, light weight, disposable bag. The cons: cheesy attachments, but fortunately the ones from my Kenmore fit the Eureka wand, so I use them. They fit on the "tool caddy" on the handle, but the caddy itself doesn't stay put and is in the way anyhow, so I'm going to try to jury-rig some way of attaching at least the upholstery and small brush to the canister. (Velcro?) The cord is too short, requiring an extension cord; more seriously, it gradually retracts, all by itself, so I must find some easy-on, easy-off device to clip to the cord to prevent that. And the hose pulls out of the canister very easily, even if I'm just pulling the canister along the floor behind me. I had to mark the on-off switch with a marking pen so I wouldn't step on the wrong switch when starting. In short, this vac will do until I have time to find something better. Has anyone else had my problems with self-retracting cord and insecure hose attachment?

After MUCH research, and going back and forth between sites looking at reviews, I chose this little vacuum cleaner for my NYC apartment. I will mention that I had $50 in gift certificates from another seller who did not sell this model, and after reading the reviews and doing my research, I decided to forego using the gift cert's for a vacuum. I VERY glad I did!

I find that this model has all the bells and whistles that I wanted - GREAT suction, variable speeds, LONG expandable handle, great attachments, retractable cord.

Yes, the cord in it is VERY short, but it's a compact model, and frankly, that should be the least worry. I threw an extension cord on and was in business.

Amazon was great - did the super saver free shipping - expected it to take 7-10 days as advertised, and it was here in TWO!! Granted, I live in NYC, so maybe our mail is super fast here... but still, Amazon always impresses me.

Trust me, this is a great little vacuum. I'm really happy I bought it.
