Product Description Includes Eureka 437az Optima Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner Crevice Dusting Brush Power Paw Turbo.
Amazon.com Review Eliminating the need for two separate vacuums--one for thorough cleaning and one for quick-and-easy touchups--the Eureka Optima has all the power, features, and performance of a conventional upright coupled with the light weight and convenience of a stick. Where the Optima doesn't cut corners is suction: at just under 12 pounds, this machine can out-draw units twice its weight, and its HEPA filter captures more than 99.9% of dust mites, pollen, and other allergens for cleaner indoor air. Its 12-amp dual- motor system devotes one motor to suction and another to turning the rotating brushroll, which can be switched all the way off for gentle cleaning of hardwoods and other delicate surfaces. The unit's bagless construction eliminates the hassle and expense of disposable vacuum cleaner bags, and its comfort-grip looped handle has 13 different adjustable positions customizable to all users in the family, from the shortest to the tallest.
Surprisingly versatile for such an inexpensive machine, the Optima also comes with a decent selection of onboard tools, including a dusting brush and crevice wand as well as Eureka's unique Power Paw. This handheld attachment features a powerful brushroll to remove ground-in dirt and pet hair; its "Riser Visor" shield flips up and down to convert from vertical to horizontal cleaning on surfaces from stairs to upholstery. Suction control allows users to direct power from the floor nozzle to the hose, resulting in a stronger, dedicated airflow in both modes. The Optima isn't perfect: it's a tad loud and the filter does need cleaning, but it represents a unique blend of power, ergonomics, and ease of use at a reasonable price point. And while the unit is rather narrow, its excellent maneuverability and small footprint when stored more than make up for the reduced cleaning path. The Optima comes fully assembled; it measures 13 inches wide by 15 inches long and stands 44-1/2 inches tall and is backed by a one-year parts-and-labor warranty. --Mary Park

Decent sub $100 vacuum with one flawAugust 27, 2010 cubano(transatlantic) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The good: I used it for the first time for one of my rooms where kids play in. Suction is very good. What I like is the manual switch to direct suction from floor brush to hose. My perception is that you don't loose suction or dirt movement velocity to the length of hose travel. So when suction is switched to floor suction is directly connected to brush instead of via hose like others. When you want to use the hose for sucking down the base of the wall you switch to hose. Also the on/off switch allows for suction alone or suction with floor brush. That way when you use the hose you can shut off the rotating brush.
The ugly: dirt/dust travel into the canister but the path seems too close to the filter. Thus the actualy hepa air filter part gets clogged very quickly with dust wads. This actually makes me consider using another vacuum hose to clean out my canister filter each time. I also think that the design flaw could be intended to encourage filter purchases. As was reported by other customer's submitted photos, you can see dust accumulating at the top of the canister on the filter instead of at the bottom of the bagless canister. To be fair there is about 50% dust wad at the top stuck to one side of the air filter, and 50% dust wad at the bottom of the bagless canister. Shaking also does not dislodge the dust wad at the filter to drop to the bottom of the canister. I've yet to empty the canister and try that mechanism.
Addtional update: so after using this some more and also getting feedback from others a few things to add.
-heavy feel to push, there are no height adjustments though not sure this would help with drag on carpet. -the ratchet extension handle collapsed a few time mildly stripping the notches, its again has to do with difficulty to push -the rotating 'Paw' pops out when you are vacuuming so store it away somewhere else. -holding the handle as low as possible prevents the heavy load on handle to collapse, wife and others did not have problem with collapsing -round handle allows for holding top allowing for more tilt
Good little vacAugust 18, 2010 Patricia Hope(usa) For the price this Eureka lightweight has turned out to be much better than I expected, works great on my bare floors, & also carpet. The only draw back being is that the cord is on the short side, otherwise this machine performs well.
Good little lightweight vacuumAugust 13, 2010 Hpu2000(North Carolina United States) I hate to clean and especially to lug around a heavy vacuum. I bought a Dyson, but it was just too big and bulky for my little place. This vacuum is small, the handle goes down for storage and it does a good job picking up big and small pieces. I like the bagless option, but the canister does fill up pretty quickly. I wouldn't recommend if you do a lot of vacuuming, but for light household use it's great. Very lightweight, which is great for my back. I also like the attachments which work well for cleaning the couches. Overall, glad I bought this.
